The following painting displays the celebrations of a festival called "Sharad Poornima". Sharad Poornima marks the end of the monsoon season and is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu Lunar Month of Ashvin (referred to as September-October). Sharad Poornima is considered as the harvest festival. Even to this day, it is believed and practiced among unmarried women(mainly in the Indian State of Orissa) to fast on this day for a suitable groom. It is a Pichwai Painting, A very classic form of painting from the blessed town of Nathdwara depicting the celebrations of a Sharad Poornima. A vertical pichwai painting made on a cotton cloth (60 x 42 inches). It is without frame.

When protected from direct strong light, moisture and rough handling, all paintings last well beyond a few generations. It is important to keep them dust-free and to ensure no moisture seeps through the walls they are placed on. The are a gift for all humanity to enjoy.
