This Pichwai painting depicts the celebrations of a Gopashtmi. This festival is dedicated to cows and Lord Krishna. On this day, Nanda Maharaja(Father of Krishna) officially passed on the responsibility of taking care of cows of Vrindavan. In the Hindu religion, the status of the mother has been raised to that of a Goddess. Hence, Cow is considered a holy animal as it is docile and provides us with life sustaining milk unconditionally. Cow has always been considered as a divine bounty on earth. It is a Vertical Pichwai Painting on a cotton cloth (60 x 36 inches). It is without frame.
