Pichwai Painting, A very traditional form of painting from the time-honored town of Nathdwara depicting a Raas-Leela on a cotton cloth and these types of paintings were used to narrate the activities of Raas-Leela. In this particular painting we witness a Raas-Leela. In this particular Raas-Leela the females that we see are referred as Gopi's in Raas Leela were not usual girls. They are pure jeevas (Female and Male irrespective of sex). Gopi's are none other than sages who had done rigorous meditation( knows as "tapasya") in their previous births, they were reincarnated as Gopi's and were waiting to merge with their beloved God in this Raas Leela. A vertical pichwai painting made on a cotton cloth (70 x 46 inches). It is without frame.
