Namastey! Let's get to know each other a bit here. This is a small brief below.
Channapatna toys are largely made out of ?soft? ivory wood (known as alae mara?in Kannada) and artisans in both manual and mechanised units use non-toxic, non-chemical colours, which they make themselves. This ensures that the toys are safe for children of all ages. This craft is practised in a town called "Channapatna", which is tucked between the city of Bengaluru and Mysuru, Karnataka. The demand for traditional Channapatna toys has declined over the years, partly due to many artisans leaving the trade, but they were quick to realise this and moved to innovative techniques to revive it, such as bringing in contemporary designs in toys and decorative items. We are also creating a network of artisans to produce quality wooden goods and providing training programmes to artisans to keep them in the trade.
?As a marketing strategy, we have collaborated with Repect Origins and moved into the online space as well. This enables us to grow our customer base and deliver products across the country,? he says. Respect Origins works to promote arts and crafts from Indian Heritage. They have set-up this online store for artisans, who don't not need to promote their products by writing about them or selling them themselves. Respect Origins do all the marketing, courier and payment gateways also.
