Pattachitra Katha depicting a Story from Lord Ganesha Life, Ganapati who is also referred to as Ganesha is the Chief of Shiva's army is one of the very important Gods of the Hindu Religion. Son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and married to two wives, Sidhi and Budhi.He is Known as the God of Knowledge and learning and Modakas is his favourite food. Pattachitra is a disciplined form of art with a set of rules and restrictions and is evolved from Sanskrit, Patta means cloth, and Chitra means picture. Hence, Pattachitra is a picture Painted on a piece of cloth was first conceptualized in Orissa and dates back to the 5th century art originated in the Raghurajpur village of Puri by Mohapatras and Maharani Fine cotton cloth is coated with white stone powder and gum made out of tamarind seeds to make the canvass. The gum of the kaitha tree is the chief ingredient and is used as a base for making different pigments by adding available raw materials. A floral border around the paintings and the use of natural colors is must. The paintings depict elongated eyes and after completion of a painting, the canvas is held over a charcoal fire and lacquer is applied to the surface. The background or landscape of each narrative is simple and not too detailed since the main focus is on the characters and their actions. Flower and leaf motifs are the common styling elements and Traditional colors such as red, green, yellow, dark blue, white, and orange are used to define each section of the painting.
